Al Lewis och Sarah Howells var med på en Unplugged-kväll med flera unga förmågor. Båda har funnits i mitt musikliv sen dess, Al solo och som duo med Sarah, och Sarah i sin grupp Paper Aeroplanes.
Paper Aeroplanes är inte obekanta för läsare av den här bloggen och det glädjer mig att de har gått stadigt framåt och får idag mycket mer uppmärksamhet och säljer nu ofta ut sina konserter. Någon som har smak nog att ta hit dem till Sverige snart?
Sarah Howells och Richard Llewellyn har nu släppt ännu en flerspårs-EP. Sex låtar av högsta klass och åter är det ganska lågmält och djupa reflektioner. Titellåten "Time To Be" kan bli en riktig klassiker i sin enkelhet om det som hela mänskligheten tycks jaga: Förmågan att vara den vi vill vara, här och nu! Min favorit är nog ändå "This Land Won't Shake", men det kan variera snabbt. Skulle jag önska något så vore det någon lite snabbare medryckande låt, men det kommer säkert framöver.
Musiklaliskt finns nu ett litet band med trummor och fiol i ryggen och det är välarrangerat med känsla och stil.
Som bonus finns förra årets jullåt "In The Bleak Midwinter" med. Så vacker att även en "jul-agnostiker" som jag får julkänslor som jag inte trodde var möjligt...
Jag har sagt det förr och säger det igen: Paper Aeroplanes kan nå hur långt som helst!

Paper Aeroplanes - Time To Be EP
Life is very much about being in the right place at the right time. And not to be there at the wrong time! Some call it coincidence, others fate, it's probably all about having good or bad flaw... I am glad I happened to be in the legendary music-pub "Half Moon" in Putney in springtime 2009. Al Lewis and Sarah Howells were there playing at an 'Unplugged night' with several young talents. Both have been part of my musical life since then, Al solo and as a duo with Sarah, and Sarah in her group Paper Aeroplanes.
Paper Aeroplanes are not unfamiliar to readers of this blog and I am pleased that they have been progressing steadily and are now getting much more attention and are selling out many of their concerts. Anyone who has the good taste to take them over to Sweden soon?
Sarah Howells and Richard Llewellyn have released yet another multitrack-EP. Six songs of the highest caliber and once more it is quite low key and with profound reflections. The title song "Time To Be" can become a true classic with its touching tale of what all humanity seems to be chasing: The ability to be who we want to be, here and now! My favorite song is probably "This Land Won't Shake", but it can vary tomorrow. If I could wish for anything, it would be a little faster song, but it will surely come next time.
Sarah sings, as usual, absolutely divine. Richard contributes more than it first may seem, with fine guitar playing, compositions and arrangements, and with really nice vocal harmonies.
They now have a small group with drums and violin backing them and the music is arranged with flair and style.
As a bonus we get last year's Christmas song "In The Bleak Midwinter". So beautiful that even a "Christmas-agnostic" like me get Christmas-vibrations I thought impossible...
I've said it before and will say it again: Paper Aeroplanes can go all the way!
